Introducing the Xbox 360 to the PC

"I want to do cool stuff now!!" Aristotle yelled this morning, jolting me from my slumber.

Aristotle, for those of you who have just stumbled onto this blog, is my cranky Xbox 360.
"Okay, okay," I yawned as I rubbed sleep from my eyes. "Can't you give a girl her beauty sleep?"

"Now, now, now, now, now!" Aristotle chanted like an annoying three-year-old.
The worst thing is that Aristotle is only one year old now. I fear to imagine what he'll be like when he's three.
So, I did something with Aristotle today which I've never done before.
I introduced him to my PC.
"Aristotle, meet my PC, who doesn't have a name because it's not as vain as you are."
"Hey!!"

"PC, meet Aristotle."
Of course, it's not really as easy as that. (Don't we all wish?)
To connect your Xbox 360 to your PC, you'll need to satisfy the following requirements:
(If you need help with the above, please ask in the comments.)
I've already got those, so I made sure Aristotle and my PC were both powered on, then I did the introduction.
First, I ran Windows Media Player, clicked on "Library", then "Media Sharing".

Then I activated "Share my media".

And there was Aristotle.

"Hey hey that's me!" yelled Aristotle excitedly.
"Yes, you're a handsome boy," I said encouragingly as I clicked "Allow".

"You have to say hello to my PC now," I told him.
"Okay!!"
To make him do that, I flipped through Aristotle's blades to the Media blade.

You can share music, pictures and videos from your PC with your Xbox 360.
Clicking through to each of those options, I found my PC listed on the Xbox 360.

"The name's Aristotle! Stop calling me Xbox 360!" Aristotle reminded me.
Selecting my PC as above, I can now stream music, photos and videos through my Xbox 360 and enjoy them on my home entertainment unit!
"It's Aristotle!!" screeched Aristotle.
Yes, Aristotle is a good boy today. We will let Aristotle have Michael Bublé tommorow, okay?
"WHAT?? TOMORROW?!! WHY NOT NOW?!!!"
Because good things come to those who wait and patience is a virtue.
"HUH????!"
Say good bye to the PC, Aristotle, that's a good boy. We'll play again tomorrow!
"Hmmmph!!"
